Uniform

Beaulieu Village Primary School Uniform Policy

We believe wearing school uniform helps provide a sense of belonging and identity for our children and sets an appropriate tone for learning in our school.

What should children wear?

Our school colours are red, blue and grey/black.  Children may wear:

  • Plain grey or black trousers or skirt or tunic dress (in warmer weather plain grey or black shorts may be worn)
  • Red polo shirt (with or without the Beaulieu School logo)
  • Navy sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without the Beaulieu School logo)
  • Sensible black or navy school shoes
  • Black, white or navy socks or tights
  • A waterproof coat (in any colour)

In warmer weather children may wear blue and white or red and white checked dresses.

On P.E. days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) children should come to school wearing their P.E. kits.  P.E. kits consist of:

  • Black or navy school shorts (in warm weather) or black or navy joggers or tracksuit bottoms (in cooler weather)
  • Red cotton T shirt (without buttons and with or without the Beaulieu School logo)
  • Red or navy sweatshirt or hoodie (with or without the Beaulieu School logo)
  • Children will also need a red book bag (with or without the Beaulieu School logo) to take to and from school each day

Please note due to considerations of space, children should not normally bring in other bags or backpacks.

What are the other expectations of how children should be presented in school?

For safety reasons:

  • Long hair should be tied back
  • Jewellery should not be worn, with the exception of stud earrings

Children who wear earrings will need to tape them with surgical tape during PE lessons to ensure safety.

Whilst we wish our children to look smart and to take a pride in wearing their school uniform, we also highly value outdoor learning and practical experiences.  Children will sometimes become wet, dirty or muddy and for this reason, as well as the fact that children are still growing, we strongly recommend that children’s school clothing, including coats, are easy to wash and dry and that families do not spend too much money on them.

Please do ensure all items of clothing are clearly named.

Where can uniform be bought?

  • Our School uniform supplier is PMG schoolwear in New Milton.  They stock items with our school logo, including bookbags, and can be contacted via this link. Newmilton@pmgretail.co.uk
  • School clothing can also be bought in many other stores, including supermarkets – there is no requirement for children at Beaulieu Village Primary School to wear branded items.
  • The Friends of Beaulieu School (FOBS) also organize regular sales of pre-worn uniform.
