I have been a parent governor since 2013 and Chair of Governors since 2016. I also have the role of SEN governor. The beautiful surroundings and friendly, family feel of Beaulieu school is what first attracted me as a parent. The vision of providing unique memories is very personal to me - my 4 boys, current and past pupils, all loved their time at this school and this vested interest was my reason in first becoming a parent governor. Now, as Chair of Governors I am dedicated to ensuring the school offers the best education for all. It is extremely rewarding to be able to draw on my previous life and work experiences and has inspired me to return to University - on a shared journey of learning - to undertake research in primary education.
Before becoming a full-time mother, I forged a career in clinical research in Toxicology /Clinical Pharmacology in the NHS (10 years) and in Clinical Data Management within a leading Pharmaceutical company (5 years). I completed my Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences in 1995. A background in science and data handling have offered good transferrable skills, which I have been able to utilise within the school.
I am very fortunate to have lived in Antwerp, Belgium; Virginia, USA and Pattaya, Thailand in the last 15 years. I have previous experience of voluntary work as a leader of a local Mother and Toddler Group (2005-2010) and Trustee/voluntary health and safety officer for a local pre-school (2007-2009).
