Associate Member of the Governing Body

Father John White

Before I became a clergyman I qualified as a secondary teacher, teaching Music, English and Religious Education. I worked in Southampton, and briefly in Ferndown. My first experience of being a governor was at Lymington CofE School, where I had been a pupil. During my curacy at Christchurch Priory, I enjoyed a close relationship with Priory School. Moving to Bournemouth, I was invited to become a governor of Linwood School and also served on the Winchester diocesan Board of Education. Before coming to Beaulieu I was for 15 years Vicar of St Katharine with St Nicholas in Southbourne, and all that time also vice chair of governors at St Katharine's VA School. During this period, it was a privilege to be involved in the appointment of two headteachers, and a joy to achieve Ofsted's “outstanding” status. Coming to Beaulieu, I quickly came to appreciate the gem that is Beaulieu School set at the heart of our beautiful location. I am passionate about education, and have a particular love of music and sport, which skills I believe every child should have the opportunity to develop, providing life-long enjoyment and benefit. I am also committed to developing the links between school and our local community. I regard it a privilege to be one of your governors, and to play my part in making the school the best it can be. A school which values every child and member of the school community, and offers the highest quality education; an environment that encourages every child to grow and flourish, that they may become happy and fulfilled members of society.
